My Book Boyfriend #10

My Book Boyfriend is a weekly meme hosted by Missie over at The Unread Reader, which provides us with an opportunity to swoon over the guys in our books. This week I have fallen deeply in love with Alex from Delirium by Lauren Oliver.

I have actually just finished reading Delirium this evening but am too upset and in a funk to consider writing a review. When I have recovered I'll be sharing my MANY thoughts on this book. Loved it!

  • Name: Alex Sheaths
  • Age: 19
  • Appearance: "His hair is golden brown, like leaves in autumn just as they're turning, and he has bright amber eyes."
  • He comes from a world where love is a disease and people are permenently cured once the reach 18 years of age. Men and woman can't touch until they are cured and loving relationships are forbidden.
  • While Alex has the scars on his neck to prove he is one of the cured, he is in fact not cured.
  • He is originally from The Wilds
  • He likes to read love poems
  • He listens to everything Lena tells him and he trusts her with his biggest secret.
  • He would sacrifice his own freedom to make sure Lena is safe and happy.
  • He teases Lena in the sweetest ways
  • Not to mention, he is an amazing kisser!
I typed Alex Sheaths Delirium into Google images and this is who came up. nom nom nom

Quotes
The helicopter has him fixed in it's spotlight. He is standing white and still and frozen in its beam, and I don't think I have ever, in my life, seen anything more beautiful than him.

"Why do you care?" I say, barely a whisper.
"I told you" he whispers back. I can feel his breath just tickling skin space behind my ear, making the hair prick up on my neck. "I like you."
"You don't know me" I say quickly.
"I want to though"

Alex reading banned poetry to Lena
He flips forward a few pages in the book, but he doesn't glance down at it. He keeps his eyes on me the whole time. "You want to hear a different one?" He doesn't wait for me to answer before beginning to recite, "How do I love thee? Let me count the ways."
There's that word again: Love. My heart stops when he says it, then stutters into a frantic rhythm.
"I love thee to the depth and breath and height my soul can reach..."
I know he's only speaking someone else's words, but they seem to come from him anyway. His eyes are dancing with light; in each of them I see a bright point of candlelight reflected.
He takes a step forward and kisses my forehead softly. "I love thee to the level of every day's most quiet need.." He kisses each cheekbone - a delicious, skimming kiss, barely grazing my skin. " I love thee freely..."

My Book Boyfriend #8

My Book Boyfriend is a weekly meme hosted by Missie of The Unread Reader which provides us an opportunity to swoon over the men in our books. This week I'm picking Daniel Bonner from The Endless Forest by Sara Donati.

Some Facts
  • Daniel is the son of the glorious Nathaniel Bonner (Last weeks Book Boyfriend!)
  • Raised by Indians and his English mother.
  • At 19 he went off to fight a war and came home without the use of his left arm.
  • He is a backwoodsman, living in the strawberry fields on Hidden Wolf
  • He is fiercely loyal to his family and very protective over those he loves (Martha, lucky girl!)
  • He is tall, lean, has black hair and stunning green eyes
  • He has a cheeky smile and he loves to tease.
  • But he is also incredibly sensitive when he has to be

Martha started to roll away from him, but Daniel pinned her down. "Are we done talking?" "Not yet," she said, and he kissed her through a broad grin. "I think I know what the problem is," Daniel said. "It's impossible to think clearly wearing clothes. Let's take care of that first."

He pulled her closer and kissed her, a sweet kiss that lingered no longer than a heartbeat. Then he pressed his mouth to her temple and he took a deep breath. He said, "Martha Bonner, I swear to you, I'll do everything in my power to protect you. Because I love you, and your happiness is the most important thing in the world to me."

Then he was back, two fingers thick with butter. "What - " she said, but he had already smeared it over her bottom lip and down her neck to the base of her throat. When he kissed her this time his tongue touched hers and the bright taste of new butter blossomed between them.

Phew, I am seriously in love with all the Bonner men. I finished The Endless Forest last night and will be posting up my review later today!

My Book Boyfriend #7

My Book Boyfriend is a weekly meme hosted by Missie of The Unread Reader in which we swoon over men in books! This week I'm picking Nathaniel Bonner from Sara Donati's Into the Wilderness series.

Some facts:

  • He is half Scotish and half Mowhawk.
  • He is the son of Hawkeye and he lives in the endless forests of Paradise, NY
  • His wife Sarah died in childbirth several years earlier and now he raises their daughter alone.
  • He is smart, confident, sensitive to other people's feelings and has a strong but gentle sense of humour.
  • People in the town are intimidated by him.
  • His chest is covered with Mowhawk tattoos
"I wake up wanting you and I go to sleep wanting you," Nathaniel murmured, pulling her shoulders up to meet him so that her head fell back and the arch of her neck rose to meet him. "Elizabeth. I want you as much as I want to breathe..."

'His hands were on her back, moving in circles. He kissed the corner of her mouth, took her lower lip between his teeth and worried it gently. Touched her upper lip with his tongue and then claimed her, his arms surrounding her, one hand cradling her head.'

"When I'm dying," he said. "When I close my eyes at the last, it'll be your face I see, right at this moment."

It was just impossible to find a picture that looks like my vision of Nathaniel. This is the best I can find. To me Nathaniel's hair is a bit longer and his facial features more angular. This picture is also missing his tattoos.

My Book Boyfriend #6

My Book Boyfriend is a weekly meme hosted by Missie of The Unread Reader in which we swoon over boys in books! I haven't been taking part for the last few weeks because I have been consumed by two young adult series and have already featured the guys from them as my Book Boyfriend. But today I'm back with a new boy in tow!

His Name and Address: Luis Castro from Chasing Daisy by Paige Toon.
Profession: Formula one race car Driver
Appearance: Tall, dark and handsome - Olive skin, black hair, dark-brown eyes - What's not to like?

Luis has a reputation of being a party animal and womanizer but as the story progresses we see that while he is hilarious, he is also trustworthy and dare I say it...a bit vulnerable!

As far as quotes go, it is hard to share any with you guys without using Spoilers because this is a story of secrets and twists! I'm not going to write an spoilers though so here is a quote that really moved me at the time.

"You still haven't told me why you're here?" I prompt.
He looks uncomfortable. "Spur of the moment. I didn't want you to leave again."
"I was only taking a break for a few days."
"I couldn't be sure of that. I couldn't take the risk."
"I'm suprised you'd care that much."
He looks up suddenly and stares straight into my eyes. "I need you more than you think."
My heart does something funny and it dawns on me at that moment that maybe I need him too.

My Book Boyfriend #5

My Book Boyfriend is a weekly meme hosted by Missie of The Unread Reader in which we swoon over boys in books!

This week My Book Boyfriend is Jace Wayland from City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. Since I have only been reading an average of 10 pages a day, Jace and I are still in the early stages of our relationship, but he shows a lot of potential.

Stats: He’s a Shadow Hunter with blond hair and eyes the colour of golden syrup. He hates cucumber, bergamot and liars.

"Have you fallen in love with the wrong person yet?'
Jace said, "Unfortunately, Lady of the Haven, my one true love remains myself."
..."At least," she said, "you don't have to worry about rejection, Jace Wayland."
"Not necessarily. I turn myself down occasionally, just to keep it interesting."

"Here." Jace leaned forward and touched his fingers to the side of her temple, so gently that a flush crept up her face. "Everything we need to know is locked up in your head, under those pretty red curls."

My Book Boyfriend #4

My Book Boyfriend is a weekly meme hosted by Missie of The Unread Reader in which we swoon over boys in books!

I have been eagerly awaiting this meme for the last few days. This week I have fallen head over heels in and out and back in love with Daniel Grigori from both Fallen and Torment by Lauren Kate.  It has been an emotional rollercoaster to say the least.

His Epic Stats:
  • He's Immortal
  • Golden Blond Hair
  • Gray eyes that turn violet
  • Smooth tanned skin
  • Mysterious and Moody
  • Is often topless and barefoot

"I don't think you're stupid." He closed his eyes. "I think you're the smartest person I know. And the kindest. And" - he swallowed, opening his eyes to look directly at her - "the most beautiful."

" I have to go," he said at last, getting to his feet. "I shouldn't even be here, but I cannot keep myself away from you. I worry about you in every waking moment. I love you, Luce. So much it hurts."

I’m not gonna lie, I had the MOST fun ever looking up models to find my Daniel! It was too hard to choose one…which is why I chose two! I had to have one that included a body shot!

My Book Boyfriend #3

My Book Boyfriend is a weekly meme hosted by Missie of The Unread Reader in which we swoon over boys in books!

This week My Book Boyfriend is from Rescue by Anita Shreve which I have just finished reading.

Stats: Peter Webster, 22 years old, just your average guy, lives in a small town in Vermont, works as a paramedic, dreams of buying a piece of land and settling down, hard working, caring and honest.

He was her family now. He and the Bump.

"This is stupid ," she said. "I never do this. I'm just so happy." She bent her head to his chest, as if embarrassed by emotion. He wrapped her in his arms. "I never thought this would happen to me," she said. "Not like this. I don't deserve you Webster."

"Are you shitting me?" he whispered into her ear. "I'm the one who can't believe his luck. You roll your car precisely on my stretch of road, and I just happen to be in service? What are the odds that the love of my life would do that?"

"He wants to go to her. He's used to caring for a person who's sobbing. It happens to him at least once a week. But he can't go to this particular person."

My Book Boyfriend #2

My Book Boyfriend is a weekly meme hosted by Missie of The Unread Reader, where we swoon over the boys in our books.

This week my book boyfriend is from a book which I have read countless times and am currently re-reading on the sly! Can You Keep a Secret by Sophie Kinsella.

Stats: Jack Harper, American, Brown hair, Dark eyes, the CEO of a million dollar company, incredibly rich.

“I don’t want to go.” His dark eyes are almost opaque. “But I have to.” He takes my hand, and I cling onto his, trying to prolong contact for as long as possible.

“So…I’ll…I’ll see you.” I can barely talk properly.

“I can’t wait.”

“Neither can I.”

I just can’t choose a picture for this one. I have spent the last hour scouring the web to try and find the perfect picture but none of them are right. My Jack is too perfect. Perhaps a younger George Clooney? Or a slightly more masculine Noah Wyle? (I grew up watching ER on Sunday nights with my mum)If anyone else has read this book and can find an appropriate picture I’d be delighted to see it!

I am throwing in the synopsis from www.sophiekinsella.co.uk because I think everyone should read this book! So if you want to know more, read on;

Emma is sitting on a turbulent plane. She’s always been a v. nervous flyer. She really thinks that this could be her last moment. So, naturally enough, she starts telling the man sitting next to her – quite a dishy American, but she’s too frightened to notice -all her innermost secrets. How she scans the backs of intellectual books and pretends she’s read them. How she does her hair up like Princess Leia in her bedroom. How she’s not sure if she has a G-spot, and whether her boyfriend could find it anyway. How she feels like a fraud at work – everyone uses the word ‘operational’ all the time but she hasn’t a clue what it means. How the coffee at work is horrible. How she once threw a troublesome client file in the bin. If ever there was a bare soul, it’s hers.

She survives the flight, of course, and the next morning the famous founding boss of the whole mega corporation she works for is coming for a look at the UK branch. As he walks around, Emma looks up and realises…

It’s the man from the plane.

What will he do with her secrets? He knows them all – but she doesn’t know a single one of his. Or… does she?

My Book Boyfriend

My Book Boyfriend is a weekly meme hosted by Missie of The Unread Reader where we can gush and swoon over the boys in our books all we like!

Sidheach James Lyon Douglas, a.k.a The Hawk. Hawk is described as Perfect; handsome, strong and masculine in every way, but with a past that makes him vulnerable. No woman can refuse him. But then he meets Adrienne who has a thing against beautiful men and he would sell his warrior soul to possess her. The Hawk may seem like a womanizer (well...he is really) but he is also a bit of a softie when it comes to Adrienne :)

Hawk: "My Heart. I didn't just pick a sweet turn of phrase to name you, but spoke from my soul when I named you thus. Without my heart I couldn't live. And I couln't breathe without you."

Adrienne: "Are you a man who has more than one heart?"

Hawk:  "Nay. Only this one. But it's bitter and dark now from the pain I've brought you."

I will be reviewing this book next week when my exams are finally over!
